Remedial Grooming is for dogs who need extra time and support due to anxiety, fear, reactivity or difficult behaviour during grooming. I do not rush or force dogs through the process to fit a standard appointment.

For everyone's safety, muzzles will be used when necessary for dogs displaying aggression or presenting a bite risk. Muzzles are a safety tool and allow me to continue working safely with dogs who may otherwise be unable to be groomed. I'm also happy to teach you how to muzzle train your dog to make this easier and less stressful for them.

Sessions are generally limited to one hour to avoid pushing your dog over threshold and to help build a more positive relationship with grooming. This may mean a groom needs to be completed over multiple sessions.

Appropriately prescribed anxiety medication is absolutely welcome and will never exclude your dog from this service. If medication helps your dog feel safer and better able to learn, I am very happy to work with it as part of their grooming plan, and have done so with many clients.

Remedial clients must commit to at least monthly appointments, although weekly or fortnightly sessions may be recommended initially. Pawrents are welcome to stay and may be given things to practise at home between sessions. I'm happy to write a training plan and give you homework!

The long-term goal is graduation! As your dog's confidence and grooming skills improve, we'll work towards moving them into regular grooming appointments where appropriate.

If your dog requires remedial handling, you must be prepared to book and pay for the additional time and sessions they need. Dogs requiring significant additional time or behavioural support may be refused a standard grooming appointment or moved to Remedial Grooming for future bookings.

Hand stripping is charged per hour and is available for suitable coats maintained on an appropriate grooming schedule. The amount of work required varies depending on breed, coat condition and previous grooming history. Dogs that have previously been clipped may not be suitable, however I am happy to assess the coat and work with you on a regular schedule towards restoring it where possible.

Coat-specific products and techniques will be used throughout the groom to maintain the correct texture and finish. The use of scissors or thinning shears will be discussed with you beforehand and tailored to your preferences.

First appointments are limited to one hour so I can assess your dog's coat and tolerance for the process. From there, we can work out an appropriate grooming schedule and session length for your dog.

A consultation may be required before your first appointment.

A 30-minute one-on-one session for new or existing clients who would like some extra help with their dog's grooming, behaviour or home care.

This session can be used to assess your dog before booking a groom, introduce them to the salon, discuss grooming or behavioural concerns, or work on practical skills such as safe handling, table manners, brushing and combing, muzzle training and cooperative grooming skills.

You're also welcome to use this time for general training questions or advice on choosing and using appropriate brushes, combs, shampoos and other home-maintenance products for your individual dog.

This service provides guidance on safe home maintenance and cooperative grooming skills only. It does not include instruction in clipping, scissoring, styling or completing a full groom at home.

This appointment does not include a groom. Your dog must attend so I can assess them and tailor my advice appropriately.

Your puppy's first introduction to professional grooming, ideally completed by around 16 weeks of age.

This appointment is tailored to what your puppy is comfortable with on the day and can include bathing, blow drying, brushing and combing, nail trimming, handling exercises and gentle introductions to clippers and scissors.

We don't rush or force puppies through the process. Some puppies are comfortable trying everything on their first visit, while others need more time to build their confidence.

Small areas such as the face, feet or hygiene areas can be tidied where appropriate, but a full body haircut is not included in this service.

After the appointment, I'll let you know how your puppy went and recommend their next step.

This service is intended for puppies attending their first professional grooming appointments. If your puppy is older than approximately 16 weeks, you're still welcome to request an appointment and I'll assess whether Puppy First is appropriate for them.

A short, focused follow-up session for puppies who would benefit from additional positive grooming experiences before progressing to regular grooming.

Each session is tailored to your puppy's individual needs and may focus on skills such as nail care, brushing and combing, handling, standing comfortably on the grooming table, clippers, scissors, dryer desensitisation or other areas your puppy needs more time to become confident with.

This is a 30-minute training and desensitisation session and does not include a bath, full blow dry or full body haircut. We will focus on the skills that will be most beneficial for your puppy rather than trying to complete a full groom within the session.

Puppy Confidence Sessions do not follow a set progression. Every puppy learns at their own pace, and I will let you know when your puppy is ready to progress to regular grooming.

This service is available following a Puppy First Groom or by recommendation.

A bath and blow dry service specifically for rescue Greyhounds, including bathing, drying, brushing, nail trim and ear clean.

Rescue Greyhounds are accepted as a specific exception to The Kind Canine's usual 20kg weight limit due to their coat type and grooming requirements, and most importantly, our passion for supporting ex-racers.

This exception applies to Greyhounds only. Dogs of other breeds over 20kg cannot be accommodated.
